Women Pioneers

Recently, I’ve been thinking about my time at Purdue University.  When I was accepted to their program, they offered me a weekend to visit the university as their guest.  They put me up in a lovely room in Earhart Hall, one of the student residences.

American universities have the most remarkable ability to keep track of their graduates.  I graduated in 1991, and I still receive newsletters and information from them.

There were many pioneering women who studied, taught and worked at Purdue.  I just learned of their archives and special collections made available on their website.  From Amelia Earhart (“America’s premier aviator”) to Janice Voss (astronaut), and now, France Cordova, current President of Purdue, women have accomplished a great deal in West Lafayette, Indiana.
