Women’s Campaign School – Roster of Speakers

Posted by on Jun 04 2008 | Presentations, Workshops. Media , Women in Leadership

Class of 2008

The Women’s Campaign School on May 30, 31 and June 1 was a great success.  The women who came to teach and share their political experience by name in alphabetical order are:  Erin Airton, Adriane Carr, Christy Clark, Jennifer Clarke, Mary Collins, Elizabeth Cull, Libby Davies, Margaret Hope, Martha Farrell (India), Dr. Hedy Fry, Carolyn Jack, Anna Lilly, Margaret Mitchell, Mary Polak, Penny Priddy, Linda Reid, Andrea Reimer, and Joanne Silver.

For anyone who knows me and my love of books and history, rest assured, I managed to get an autographed copy of “No Laughing Matter” from Margaret Mitchell, the MP from Vancouver East who stood up in Parliament to defend battered women.  The panel discussion with Mitchell and Collins, who both served as MPs in the 80s, was a highlight for me.  I was in my 20s at that time and started to believe that I could live my life without fearing male violence.

Raging Grannies
The Raging Grannies dropped by to perform for the students of the 2008 Women’s Campaign School early on Sunday, June 1.  It was an unexpected treat for all who were there.

I’ll post more about the Women’s Campaign School after a bit of rest.  It was an intense 3 days!
