Persian Radio interview

Posted by Jennifer on Mar 30 2008 | Presentations, Workshops. Media

I was interviewed last night by Ebby Mohseni on Vancouver Persian Radio about women in politics.  I mentioned that I was running for the Vancity board of directors.  A woman called to ask what makes me different from the other candidates.  It’s a good question as many of the candidates are strong.

I told her that I was running as an independent and that I was committed to improving communication between the members and the board.  Perhaps we can improve the percentage of voter turnout which is usually around 6-8% of eligible voters.

Making Connections . . .

Posted by Jennifer on Mar 26 2008 | Women and Politics

I taught a workshop today for the BC Council for International Cooperation.  Before we started, one of the board members encouraged people present to look at the 10-Point Agenda for the national body, CCIC.

I looked at #4 - Achieving Gender Equity.  This is one of the best descriptions I’ve read to describe why gender equity is so important.

Watching the Obama campaign in the US has been inspirational for many of us.  This new video demonstrates how important it is to ask and invite people to participate.
